About Saint Augustine of Canterbury
Saint Augustine of Canterbury (d. 605) was a Benedictine monk sent by Pope Gregory the Great to evangelize the English people. As the first Archbishop of Canterbury, he founded the English Church on solid apostolic foundations, preaching the Gospel with humility and perseverance.
Prayer for His Feast Day
Lord God, you called Saint Augustine of Canterbury to bring the light of the Gospel to the English people. Grant that through his prayers, we may faithfully proclaim your truth and build your Church in unity and peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
